Zac

Piano Faculty

Zac always wanted to be Angus Young from AC/DC. From the age of 6 he begged his mother to play the guitar. She told him that he could, but he would have to play piano for four years first. He obliged and although a battle at first, began to love the piano. After beginning guitar he decided to continue piano as well, and eventually graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a focus on composition and piano performance. He has played piano for 16 years and began as a classically trained musician who later studied jazz, rock, blues and afro-cuban piano.

Zac is an avid music lover versatile in many styles of music. Coming from Wisconsin he moved to Austin to establish a career in teaching, film composition, and live performance. His main focus as a teacher is to inspire students and create a spark of interest in music that will last a lifetime.

Here’s what Zac’s students have to say about him:

Zac is great!  He’s very patient and makes me feel comfortable when I make all those mistakes.  Practicing with the Roland Music Tutor (MIDI files) is a really cool way learn.  I have used it not only to listen to lessons and follow along, but also to playback midi files that I have downloaded for songs that I like.  I also rented a Roland Digital Piano from you guys.  I had been playing smaller portable keyboards for years, and had forgotten how great a real (mostly real) piano feels!  I love it!”  --Kyle H, Adult Piano Student

“The lessons are cool and Zac is great. I like the way he approaches things and explains things to me.  He’s a good teacher for me since we both play guitar and write music.”  --Joanna D, Adult Piano Student
