Zac

Piano Faculty

Zac always wanted to be Angus Young from AC/DC. From the age of 6 he begged his mother to play the guitar. She told him that he could, but he would have to play piano for four years first. He obliged and although a battle at first, began to love the piano. After beginning guitar he decided to continue piano as well, and eventually graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a focus on composition and piano performance. He has played piano for 16 years and began as a classically trained musician who later studied jazz, rock, blues and afro-cuban piano.

Zac is an avid music lover versatile in many styles of music. Coming from Wisconsin he moved to Austin to establish a career in teaching, film composition, and live performance. His main focus as a teacher is to inspire students and create a spark of interest in music that will last a lifetime.

Here’s what Zac’s students have to say about him:

“Nikhil got so much out of the camp this week and I can't believe how much progress he's made!  He has been playing for hours since the camp started...and we just got back from the new Pirates movie so he has even more inspiration now.  Thanks so much!” --Joyce L, Mother of Nikhil

“I just want you to know that you were totally right--Rafi is LOVING your camp! He's now in bed singing movie songs at the top of his lungs after proclaiming, ‘This is the best camp ever!’ Thanks for suggesting it :)” --Shana B, Mother of Rafi

“Michelangelo has really been enjoying his piano lessons at Capital Music Center. His music instructor has really been an inspiration to him and he looks forward to going there every week for his lessons. With Zac's musical knowledge and patience, Michelangelo has really excelled in his playing abilities. We have really noticed the difference as to how our son has advanced in his music abilities, ever since he has been taking piano lessons from Zac. Michelangelo is always enthusiastic about playing his Roland HP-207 digital piano and the capabilities that it has, especially when recording the songs that he plays on the piano and the intensity of the sound and how it intrigues others that listen to his playing.”  --Guadalupe and Rosemary Rodriguez

Zac is great!  He’s very patient and makes me feel comfortable when I make all those mistakes.  Practicing with the Roland Music Tutor (MIDI files) is a really cool way learn.  I have used it not only to listen to lessons and follow along, but also to playback midi files that I have downloaded for songs that I like.  I also rented a Roland Digital Piano from you guys.  I had been playing smaller portable keyboards for years, and had forgotten how great a real (mostly real) piano feels!  I love it!”  --Kyle H, Adult Piano Student

“The lessons are cool and Zac is great. I like the way he approaches things and explains things to me.  He’s a good teacher for me since we both play guitar and write music.”  --Joanna D, Adult Piano Student
