Valerie is a graduate of the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University.  She holds a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Piano Pedagogy and has been teaching private and group piano lessons to students of all ages for the past 10 years.  Valerie moved to Austin in 2004 after teaching elementary music in Arkansas for 2 years.  Since moving to Austin she has developed an addiction to Amy’s Belgian chocolate ice cream and battles that addiction with a love for running  She will complete her first marathon in February 2007 at the AT&T Austin Marathon.  Music is her number one passion and sharing that passion with piano students brings her more joy than anything else.

Here’s what Miss Valerie’s students have to say about her:

“Both girls really enjoy the classroom setting.  Amy preferred the classroom setting to her private lessons we tried last year.  We are all happy with the piano lessons and expect to keep at it unless the girls really, really beg to stop.  We think Miss Valerie is awesome and is a large part of the reason the girls want to continue these lessons.  She seems to really know how to connect with Bonnie!” –Mary & Robert J, parents of Amy & Bonnie

“Valerie is wonderful, she provides me with study sheets, is always on time, and has been generally quite helpful.  Regarding the Roland piano I am renting, at first I couldn't tell any difference from the Roland with that of the Yamaha until I had the piano for a month and became accustomed to its feel.  The Roland is a superior product with better key feel, not as springy or clinky as the others.” –John W, adult piano student
