10/07  Britt & Ron, the Roland KR107 piano is nothing short of awesome! The whole family is very pleased with it.  It was a long busy weekend for us so we didn't have as much time to spend on it as we would have liked. However, we have played it quite a bit.  Our 12 year old son Matthew has already learned to record songs using the overlay and editing stuff and is having fun with it.  It is a considerable distraction to his lessons for now due to all of it's neat features but no harm done as I anticipate the pay back will be quite high.  We are looking forward to taking you up on your offer for a training tutorial.  Thanks for all your willingness to take an interest in us and our success. You guys have been great! -Joel S., Round Rock, TX

10/07  We love our new Roland KR103 piano.  I have to say it’s a tremendous full-bodied sound and we are constantly discovering new features and sounds!  Garland C., Band Director, Leander High School

07/05  I wanted to let you know how pleased we’ve been with our piano.  I would highly recommend the same type of Roland piano with Music Tutor for any piano student and here’s why:  We started our on Nathan started on a small Yamaha keyboard to see if he would actually enjoy playing the piano before investing in a piano.  This was NOT a good idea.  Our son enjoyed playing the piano but got frustrated because of the limitations of the keyboard thereby causing his enjoyment of playing the piano to fade.  We’d heard about Capital Music Center and decided to stop in and boy are we glad we did.  We were sold the minute we heard the sound, felt the realistic piano touch, and saw the ability to interact with the music on a disk.  We have never had a music lesson so hearing the music on disk helps us help our son in playing the music correctly.  But most importantly is the fact that our son has fun on the piano.  He can record songs, make up his owns songs, change the sounds of songs, and just basically have a good time with the piano.  He has even gone as far as creating his own music compositions and playing it during recital.  –Bruce & Donna, Austin, TX

10/04  For Christmas in 1999, we came into Capital Music to buy a metronome and came out with a brand new Roland KR1070 Digital Grand Piano!!! We have 2 sons that loved music and we had considered piano lessons, but could not get them excited about piano lessons...until we walked into your store!  Ron gave us a great presentation and showed us all of the great features that make it fun for young kids to learn to play.  Our younger son, Adam, who was 8 years old at the time, started taking piano lessons from Todd at your store.  He fell in love with the piano and really liked to practice.  We just loved going to watch him and all of the other talented children at the recitals you held.  These lessons were nothing like the ones I remember as a kid, hating to go to! So boring!  My other son, Christopher, was into guitar, never took piano lessons.  But has enjoyed playing on the piano so much that he has been self-teaching himself.  Both boys are in band now. Adam plays trombone and Christopher plays clarinet and they love to practice and are the best in their bands.  They still use the piano all the time to help them compose music, work out hard sections in their band music, and accompany each other.... and of course, they use the metronome feature a lot!!  My husband and I really believe that one of the main reasons (beside their natural talent!) that they are so good in band and enjoy music so much is their early experience with their piano! Adam has really enjoyed his lessons and loves to play around and compose on the piano.  Thanks so much for opening our eyes to how wonderful and how much fun having a piano in the family can be! –Terry & David M., Cedar Park, TX

05/04  Dear Britt and Capital Music team:  Thanks a million for your help choosing a digital piano.  We were surprised by the poor service we received at other music stores around town.  Maybe it wouldn’t matter to pros who can evaluate products on their own, but we rookies needed the kind of attention and education that you gave us during the shopping process. From the day we set up our Roland KF-7, we knew it was the right decision to go with a digital piano, especially one with built-in tutorial functions and MIDI capability.  Our first lesson was scheduled a week later, but with the Roland and instruction book we got started on our own right away.  We were amazed when we could play some recognizable songs (at least portions of them) within hours, and it was way more fun because of the instrument’s tone and rhythm choices, accompaniment, built-in learning games, and MIDI capability that allow use of the instruction book diskette.  If we had bought an acoustical piano, it would have been sitting there idle while we waited for our first lesson.  Or, if we did try banging on the keys, we wouldn’t have had the same kind of feedback to help us improve.  It’s interesting that when we called around shopping for an instructor, many instructors told us that the electronics functions and MIDI capability wouldn’t help us learn.  We’re already convinced that they’re very wrong and maybe only hold that view because they’ve never gotten to understand the new technology themselves.  In any case, from our viewpoint there’s no contest.  We can’t imagine having just an acoustical piano. Speaking of instruction, another reason we like your approach is because you encourage group lessons.  Most instructors we talked to would only do individual lessons.  Frankly, we don’t know for sure if we’d learn better one way versus the other, but we wanted to first try taking lessons together.  We now look forward to our standing weekly “date” at Capital Music. Thanks again for your help.  We know we can trust your guidance in the future. --Ralph and Janet Ott, Round Rock, TX

08/03 I am an adult piano student at St Francis After School Piano Program, guest writer for the Austin American Statesman, and teacher of classics at the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas, Austin. My son James and I both play. We started taking after school group lessons at St. Francis in 2002, he with 2nd graders, I with 5th-6th-graders, in an empty slot which Ms. Valentic did not mind an adult filling. I chose a Roland digital piano because those were the kind used in our instruction. We rented it for 4 months, and liked it so much we purchased it. The ability to play with music, alter tempos, select instrumentation and so on is really great. Because of your sponsorship of this great program we were able to try piano out, see whether we would stick with it, figure out whether it would be good in some place in our house and so on. My favorite part by far is the music tutor. I practice most of the pieces solo first, and then when I turn on the tutor and get to hear what the orchestration is and the real tempo, I can adjust to it and fit in and get the 'reward' of playing along. James likes playing with the musical accompaniment from the start." –Tom Palaima (Article for the Statesman).

07/02 I wish to express my sincere appreciation to you and your find staff.  The Roland, which I purchased last year, has more then met our expectations. It is an excellent piece of equipment.  Both my wife and I are very satisfied with it.  You did a good job convincing me that it was what we needed.  Equally as important have been the efforts of Ms. Anne Misner in helping me learn how to use the piano properly.  I spent a large portion of my adult life in the teaching profession at the post-secondary level and my opinion of Ms. Misner is that she is an excellent teacher.  Not only is she most knowledgeable but she has the knack of making a student feel as if she really cares about one’s progress. In addition, she has a warm and pleasant disposition, which definitely enhances the learning effort.  You have a fine organization of which you should be quiet proud.  Your group has added materially to our quality of life. –Cole Murphy, PhD, Austin, Texas.

03/02 You are all so helpful and that was noticeable the first time I walked into your store.  My husband was with me the day I purchased my piano and he was all for buying the piano (although he doesn’t know a thing about them) simply because o f the way we were treated by the staff at Capital Music!  I will certainly refer any inquiries about purchasing pianos to you because of your care and concern for your customers!!! Keep up the great work.  --Collette Surman, Independent Piano Teacher, LaGrange, Texas.

2/02 Oh my gosh!  I have never had so much fun!  My students are having a ball with their MT80s.  It has changed my problem students into happy successful students, which makes for a happier teacher/student day.   I will have an ensemble playing at convention, so I have recorded the duets for them to learn it faster.  They are all so excited.  Thanks for having that workshop!  It was the shot I really needed to perk my ordinary teaching week into an exhilarating time. --Judith LaFontaine, Independent Piano Teacher, Navasota, Texas

01/02 Dear Capital Music Center:  I'm writing to express my family's appreciation of your business. We purchased the Roland KR-177. It has really made a difference in our lives. In the few weeks we've owned it, my 12-year-old son's ability has improved significantly. Recently, when at a friend's house, instead of heading straight for the video game, he sat down at their keyboard and played "Ecossaise," which was the first song he learned on his new piano. Our friends were very surprised, since he had never done that before, and, in fact, for years they never even knew he played piano.  I also would like to say what a great representative of Capital Music Britt Cawthon is. His demonstration really sold us on the Roland and his skill inspired my son's interest in continuing piano. This is something he really hadn't cared about up until then.  Last of all, the way we were greeted when we first came into your store by Britt couldn't compare to our previous experience when we began our search for a piano at a competitor's store. Britt is warm & friendly, and possesses special insight for motivating young people in playing the piano. When we left Capital Music, we really felt like we had found what we were looking for. Whereas, when we left the first piano store we visited, I told my son, "If we're going to spend a lot of money, it won't be there."  In closing, I want to thank you again for helping to change our lives for the better. – Deborah M., Round Rock, TX

12/01 Dear Ron & Britt:  I want to thank Britt for assisting us with our piano purchase.  Britt is very knowledgeable about the entire line of Roland products and allowed us the time necessary to make the best decision for our family.  We purchased the Roland Music Tutor Piano and are very happy with our decision!  This piano will bless our home and our children’s lives for years to come! Chad & Juli E. (original letter)

12/01 Dear Natalie:  The Kinderfriends Piano class has been a wonderful experience for my two boys and me.  Mrs. Crawford makes learning to play the piano FUN, while at the same time teaching them the fundamentals of music.  I couldn’t believe it when my boys got home after the first class and started practicing their new pieces.  What a contrast to the scales and repetition I remember from my first piano class as a child! --Angela C. (original letter)

09/00 Dear Ron, Britt, & Todd:  I want to give my most sincere and heartfelt thanks to you all for your help and generosity.  It has been a wonderful blessing to have the Roland KR375 and four student pianos in my piano studio!  My students and their parents have been thrilled with the quality and sound of the Roland instruments.  I cannot adequately express the gratitude and appreciation for your technical assistance, training, encouragement, help in getting my digital piano studio set up, and for believing in my ability to use and promote the use of the Roland Music Tutor in my studio.  --Sylvia S., Independent Piano Teacher, Austin, Texas.

12/98 I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Ron Edelman, owner of Capital Music Center in Austin, Texas, and Britt Cawthon also from Capital Music Center, for inspiring me to take that leap of faith (and money!) to acquire the Roland KR-1070. Both Ron and Britt have been extremely helpful to me, and to them I owe a debt of gratitude. --Malcolm Brown, Jr – Professor of Microbiology, University of Texas at Austin  (Note:  At the time Professor Brown purchased the piano, we did not have a website, so he was compelled to create our first website as a thank you.  And for that, we owe him a debt of gratitude!)

12/96 Dear Ron & Britt:  I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful support after my second major purchase from your store.  The assistance (both technical and professional) you offer has been a great service.  I am a very satisfied customer once again!  As a piano teacher, I can see the amazing difference in all of my students since I have been teaching with the Music Tutor system.  The students have more fun in their lessons, their rhythm coordination has improved, and they learn their music quicker.  I have been enjoying my Roland KR immensely.  Thank you so much for being Capital Music!!!  --Buffy Currens., Independent Piano Teacher, Austin, Texas

12/96 Dear Ron:  This letter is a small token of great appreciation.  For almost eight years you and your professional staff have graciously assisted me with my musical needs.  Being in my 29th year of piano teaching with seventy private, students, my needs are many and varied. It has been necessary to rely on your expertise many, many times.  Matters dealing with technology, equipment and teaching aids have been very effectively.  Your staff has been extremely courteous and helpful. Service and repairs have been prompt and thorough.  Your willingness to assist me during recital seasons has been extraordinary. Also, many teachers have benefited from the workshops presented at your store. You have enabled us to enrich our students’ musical lives and make a profound difference.  Results of using my three digital pianos and three sequencers are obvious.  Musicality and creativity are greatly enhanced.  In my studio, practice on the Roland instruments is referred to as "playing".   Enjoyment and enthusiasm are at high levels.  Sixty children and ten adults weekly enjoy the instruments and software purchased at Capital Music Center.  Of course, many of my students have purchased instruments at your store.  Numerous favorable comments have been heard concerning their satisfaction with your approach.  Those students having a digital piano in the home seem to progress generally twice as fast as those without.  My first major purchase from you was on May 5, 1989.  That day marked the beginning of a deeper appreciation, understanding and love of music for my students and for me.  Many accolades to you and your fine staff. –Beverly Gordon, Independent Piano Teacher, Georgetown, Texas

5/96 Dear Ron:  I can't believe it has been six months since I purchased my Roland Atelier organ. It is difficult for me to try to tell you how much I have enjoyed experiencing all the beautiful sounds it can produce even with my limited talent.  I am so grateful for your teacher’s gracious and charming way of teaching me to play chords and so many other instructions that are enabling me to enjoy this magnificent instrument far more than I ever imagined.  When I first heard you play this organ at your studio I thought, "Oh sure, when you're an talented as he is, any organ can sound great."  But I can truly say that now, even I can produce some beautiful music --- at times.  Ha!  When you first told me the price for the organ, I swallowed quickly and tried to keep my composure without revealing “sticker shock".  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever own one - let alone have the nerve to tell my husband what I was looking at and longing for.  But the Lord was gracious to open our hearts and provided a way to purchase one.  I can honestly say that neither my husband nor I have regretted our investment.  Ron, I just wanted to thank you for all your many kindnesses in regards to this purchase. I am so glad you didn't put any pressure on me while I was considering all the various aspects of this luxurious item and you have stood behind your word in your service, even to the point of coming all the way out to my house and checking out a sound that I was concerned about, only to find out it was no problem at all.  It has been a pleasure dealing with you and I would never hesitate referring anyone to you who would be interested in purchasing a quality organ.   I pray the Lord will continue to bless you, your family and your business. –Marla D., Austin, Texas

1/95 Dear Sirs:  We would like to express our gratitude to the entire staff at Capital Music. We recently purchased a Roland Keyboard.  Our primary interest was in a device with MIDI capability in order to fully utilize the computer software that is available to help my daughter, Stephanie, in her piano lessons.  We already had a small keyboard, as well as a Baldwin upright piano, but we felt that Stephanie was limited by her inability to use the accompaniment available with either the computer software or an MT.  Britt was a big help in selecting a keyboard that was within our budget and fulfilled our needs.  When we got it home and set it up, however, the excitement that Stephanie showed in practicing overwhelmed us.  She immediately began practicing and even playing with different accompaniment styles.  It was truly amusing to hear Frere Jacques played to a Calypso beat.  Stephanie's new interest in piano reassured us that we had made the right decision purchasing a new keyboard.  In addition to this, we had never really known how poor the sound quality was on the old keyboard.  The sound from the Roland is so much more rich and 'piano-like'.  At the time we purchased the old keyboard, Stephanie was 4 years old and just starting piano lessons.  We had no way of knowing how well she would do in lessons.  She has done so well though, that we decided the additional investment was well worth it.  Many thanks to the staff for their help in selecting a keyboard and their interest in our daughter's progress.  We look forward to continuing our relationship with Capital Music Center. –Ned & Beverly E., Austin, Texas
